jetboatWanaka is a town situated on the shores of Lake Wanaka and is just 15 minutes from Cardrona or an hour from Queenstown, the area offers unspoilt beauty and a variety of things to do and see. The population sits at around 5000 people although this increases to 7000 during the peak holiday season.

Wanaka experiences four distinct seasons with daytime temperatures ranging from 5oCelsius to 34oCelsius. The best time to ski is July to September, Treble Cone is only 19 kilometres away and caters for skiers and snowboarders.

Everyone is catered for at Wanaka, you can purchase lifes little essentials from the local supermarket or splurge on a few luxuries in the specialty stores. Choosing somewhere to eat may be difficult, there is an abundance of restaurants, cafes and bars serving a variety of flavours. The easiest way to get around Wanaka is to walk, however, there is a local taxi service as well as a shuttle service or there is car and bike hire.

The mountains of the Mount Aspiring National Park surround Lake Wanaka and the park is renowned for its diversity, appealing to skiers and hikers alike. Lake Wanaka is the gateway to this world heritage area and is in itself a sight to behold.
