Originally
named as 'fit for a Queen', Queenstown, on the shores of Lake Wakatipu,
is surrounded by the spectacular Remarkables mountains and is considered
to be one of New Zealand's premier holiday destinations. In Queenstown
you can bungy jump, pan for gold, cruise the lake, go skiing or
go shopping. Everything is within walking distance and the town
caters for everyone's tastes. There are hundreds of restaurants,
cafes and bars so finding something good to eat is easy.
Queenstown is 310 metres above sea level and like
Cromwell, experiences four distinctive seasons. June to September
provides visitors with some of the world's best skiing and snowboarding
conditions.
Flights to Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne arrive and
depart regularly as do flights to and from other destinations within
New Zealand. Queenstown is only a 45 minute drive from Cardrona,
perfect for day trips and the towns are connected by bus or you
can pick up a rental car at the airport when you arrive.
