A
land of four seasons with hot summer days, contrasting autumn colour,
winter snow and the freshness of spring.
Once known as 'The Junction', Cromwell is at the confluence
of the Clutha and Kawarau Rivers. Gold was discovered here in 1862

the gold rush the town became a service centre for the farming and
fruit growing area. Cromwell is known as the 'Fruit Bowl of the
South, its future lying in farming, horticulture, viticulture and
tourism.
